For Dial M for Murder at Okoboji Summer Theatre, my scenic design embraced minimalist principles to amplify the play's suspense and psychological tension. The apartment of Tony and Margot Wendice was hinted at with elegant yet sparse furnishings, creating an air of sophistication while leaving surrounding areas in darkness. This choice heightened the sense of confinement and isolation central to the story, drawing the audience into the underlying themes of deception and danger. Each design element, from the functional layout to the subdued decor, was meticulously crafted to enhance the narrative and immerse the audience in the characters’ entrapment.
